Who we are
Our website address is: https://transplanthandbook.com. The website is owned and operated by John Carter to promote his books and content.
Media
If you upload images to our website, please be aware that images may contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract this data. We strongly recommend that you remove this information from your images before uploading them. We do not use or collect any location data from media uploaded by users.
Cookies & Comments
When you leave a comment on this site, you can choose to save your name, email address, and (if you provide one) your website in your browser’s cookies.
This is purely for your convenience so that you don’t need to re-enter your details each time you comment.
These cookies do not track you, and they expire after one year.
If you do not select this option, no comment-related cookies will be set.
Other Cookies on This Site
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The only cookies set by this site are for basic functionality, such as remembering your comment details if you choose, or for logged-in administrators (site staff).
External Content
Some pages on this site may include embedded content from other websites (for example: videos, images, articles, or maps). Embedded content behaves in the same way as if you had visited the other site directly.
These websites may collect data about you, use their own cookies, or track your interaction with that embedded content. We have no control over and are not responsible for the privacy or cookie practices of these third-party sites.
Who we share your data with:
For users who have registered on our website, if you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email for security purposes.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its associated metadata (such as your name, email, and IP address) are retained indefinitely. This is necessary for us to recognize and automatically approve any subsequent comments from you, which prevents them from being held in a moderation queue.
We do not currently have user registration. However, should we introduce this feature in the future, we would store the personal information provided in a user’s profile. Registered users would have the ability to see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except for their username). Website administrators would also be able to see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments on this site, you have the right to request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you.
Please note that this does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. To make a request for your data or for its erasure, please contact us at admin@transplanthandbook.com.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments and contact form submissions are checked through an automated spam detection service. This service receives the data submitted in the comment or contact form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, to help identify and prevent spam. We may use a service such as Akismet for this purpose, whose privacy policy can be found here.
